Fun at the Festival
What a great weekend! Yesterday, we spent the day at Chesapeake Folk Festival, which was held at one of our favorite Talbot County destinations, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. This day long celebration of regional music is now in its 3rd year and is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy folk music performances by local musicians at the same time that you learn a little more about the Chesapeake Bay and its rich traditions.
Our mutual love of music was what brought us to the Festival. We didn’t want to miss an opportunity to catch so many local bands in one place. This year, we got to hear performances by the Zionaires, New Gospelites, Raging Unstoppables and Chester River Runoff while sampling some of the fantastic food and wine available at the Festival.
There is so much to do at the Festival in addition to taking in live music. Its actually a great activity for families, with live demonstrations of trotlining for crabs, crab pot making, boat building, pound net weaving, decoy carving, marionette making and more. We particularly enjoyed watching Debra Hathaway of Dragon Wings marionette theater in Easton giving her demonstration. The kids in attendance absolutely loved it and we had so much fun watching their faces light up!
